This was a memorial service-concert for Martina – the bartender and half owner of the Shanti in Soulard. Martina died on Wed. Oct. 4 in a St. Louis jail cell from a broken neck (the entire story in under investigation). She was 36. Martina was also the main bartender on Kind Tuesdays for 1998 and 1999.
There was a mardi gras style parade in Soulard on this day in honor of Martina followed by food and music at the preservation hall. Most of the band members marched in the parade and played drums.
